Dori
Dori, meaning thread, is a personal project aimed at archiving the generational act of womanhood, on skin.
After losing my grandmother, I inherited a lot of her items– saris, tablecloths, hand towels, etc, that were embroidered by her and the women of my family. Afternoons is when they would all come together over their shared interest in embroidery. Their gatherings transcended mere craft; they were moments of genuine connection, where familial roles dissolved and friendships flourished.
Just like the gatherings of the yesteryears, my studio becomes a space for narratives, where we exchange stories amidst the hum of the tattoo needles. Dori is a testament to the enduring bonds of sisterhood and the resilience of femininity.
